Bridal Bouquet Activities

Setting up a wedding is a lot of work for those who plan it, and for those who are a part of it.  But when that special day arrives, all the work is over and the magic begins!  A wedding can be made so much more exceptional by making full use of something as simple as the bridal flowers.

There is no limit to what can be done.  Flowers are often used as decorations in the church or wherever the wedding takes place, to add a feeling of love and tranquility.  There is a tradition of having a flower girl, a young girl (often a niece or other relative) enters as part of the wedding party carrying a bouquet or tossing petals from a small basket.  These innocent gestures reflect the beauty and purity a marriage ceremony is meant to convey.

A bridal bouquet is also often divided and given to the ladies in the wedding party, and even the ladies in the families of the bride and groom, as a memento of the special occasion.  As small of a gesture as this may be, it often leaves those receiving the flowers feeling “touched” and makes the wedding more memorable for them.

Wedding bouquets and other floral arrangements can be used for so many things.  Even the top layer of the wedding cake can be adorned with flowers, or surrounded by flower petals.  Petals are often used to line the walkways, especially when the bride and groom exit the chapel (or other building where the wedding is held).  It is amazing how much of an essence of love this type of décor can add to the ambience of the wedding.  Flowers also add a heavenly aroma into the air and stir up a feeling of joy in the hearts of everyone there on that precious day.

In addition to all of these things, the bridal bouquet is also part of a fun tradition.  All of the women gather together during the reception and the bride stands in front of the crowd of ladies and tosses the bouquet over her shoulder.  Whoever catches the bouquet is playfully said to be the next candidate for marriage, or the next who will be most likely to be married.  This is all in the spirit of fun, and no one takes it very seriously.  But it makes everyone laugh and is part of the excitement and humor at the wedding reception.

Another great use of bridal flowers is to decorate the reception tables.  Few items are quite as classy, in terms of table decorations, as small bouquets of delicate flowers.  You may set one on each table (or two, if the tables are very long).   If you are preparing for a wedding, you realize the potential uses for flowers are limited only to the imagination of those who envision it.  There is no question, however, that floral elements are one of the most versatile, useful, and essential parts of the ceremony.
