Delegating the Responsibility of Selecting Wedding Favors
It is hard to decide who should take care of the wedding favors. The bride and groom have so much else demanding their attention, choosing wedding favors can be one more thing to make wedding plans seem endless. The obvious answer, unless you have a wedding planner on duty, is to ask someone to take care of it, such as someone in the wedding party. Usually they do not mind at all. They realize how inundated the bride and groom can be with preparations, and how much pressure can be relieved by removing just one thing from their very full plate.
Wedding favors are an essential part of every wedding, and the duty of finding and purchasing them should not be left to just anyone. Consider only those who are good at shopping and enjoy it.
Once you have chosen this special person, a few important tasks will need to take place before the items are purchased. Firstly, the bride and whoever is overseeing the wedding needs to make a list of what wedding favors should be purchased. Online research and wedding magazines, among many resources, may be a great place to start if inspiration is needed.
Once the list of wedding favors is done, the next step is to sit down with the elected person and discuss the list. You should also discuss the desired prices of each item and the best recommended places to shop for everything. When meeting with this person (and anyone you select to help out), it might be a good idea to take them out for a small informal lunch to go over you list. You’d be surprised what a difference starting them out in a positive mindset can make.
Be clear about what you are looking to get. Give them a sense that you respect their discretion and taste as well. If you are still unsure they will make the right choices about certain items, there are a couple of solutions. One is to browse online and print pictures, or email the wedding favor planner links of things that generally reflect what you’re looking for.
Another way to ensure the correct wedding favors are purchased is to tell the person ahead of time that you’d like to see everything they purchase as soon as they purchase it, so you can let them know immediately which incorrect items may need to be exchanged. (This is particularly important to do within 10 days or whatever the store’s return policy demands.)
Finally, it might be a good idea to just purchase the items yourself. It’s easy these days to place an order at an online store and have the products delivered. Do this well in advance, though, as few things are more frustrating than having the wedding favors arrive the day after the wedding!
