Fun Wedding Music Activities
Music is said to be the language of love. So it stands to reason that music is often considered one of the most important elements when planning your dream wedding. Sure, the orchestra, organist, or piano player can bring that special sparkle to the room as you walk down that isle to gaze lovingly into the eyes of your soul mate.
But there is something else to consider – the reception. Don’t forget the reception music. Granted, some of the reception music needs to be love songs and songs that are special to you and your spouse-to-be, but it also needs to be fun! Reception music is often put on by a DJ who can set up many fun activities revolving around the music.
Such activities include silly games like the chicken dance or name that tune. You can also do requests (people love when the dance experience feels interactive). And then there are special fun dances that are well-known and loved by all like the Macarena and the Hustle. There are many others, but these are just a couple of examples.
Other activities involving the wedding music can involve a special reception dance between the bride and groom, mothers and fathers of the bride and groom, etc. The DJ probably will have lighting to set a special loving and warm mood, and can play just about any special song that you can think of. (If you need particular ones, though, it’s always best to ask your DJ months in advance by providing a list of songs so he can get them ready!)
Wedding music is a great way to just lighten the mood. The days and weeks leading up to that special day can actually be very stressful, not only on the wedding party but also on the families and close friends of the bridge and groom. Many have had to travel a long way, rent tuxedos and dresses, work overtime at their jobs to afford the vacation time, and more. The music at the reception, and the fun that goes with dancing and listening to favorite tunes, is enough to melt away all the stress in the world.
What would life be without love? What would life be without music? Most of us couldn’t live without either. So when you are planning your wedding, it’s very important to consider how essential a good music program can be, and incorporate that into your vision for the ceremony itself and the reception. If you have musical relatives, have them sing a special song during the wedding. If one of them writes music, ask if they could write a song just for you and the love of your life!
If no one in your family is musically talented, there is hope! Ask someone from the church or a friend to be involved, or just hire someone. Last but not least, it’s becoming a new tradition to have karaoke at weddings! Where there are drinks and karaoke, there is definitely fun!
