Pre-wedding Activities

There are many variables that have to be considered when planning the pre-wedding activities. Of course you have to consider the age of the bride and groom and their guests. If the couple is young and their wedding party and guests are young with small children that would be a determining factor when making these plans.  Whether your guests live in the same town or whether they live in another state definitely affects what activities should be offered.

Obviously, besides the needs and desires of the wedding couple, the main concern is that the wedding party and guests have a good time and leave the experience with happy memories, sharing in this important event.

Usually the planning for the wedding has taken months and the stress level is high for all those who have been involved in the process. Planning pre-wedding activities should not be creating more tension for either the wedding couple or their family and friends.

Keeping that in mind, remember to keep a notebook and pen handy at all times. Keep a list of all the names and phone numbers and even email addresses of those you need to communicate with regularly regarding the plans. When you call to discuss plans with those involved, call while you are not feeling rushed, and call when you are in a quiet room where there won’t be a lot of interruptions. Remember to listen to suggestions from those in the wedding party and don’t make plans for activities that will put a hardship on them. Consider the financial situations also of those who will be involved in these activities.

If you are planning for women in the wedding party to go to a beauty shop, make sure who will be paying for the services and who will be providing child care if that is needed. Perhaps there is a friend who would be willing to do hair-dos at her house or yours and you could make a make up party out of it. Maybe the other women could bring nail polish or makeup and they could do each others’ nails. You could contact a representative of one of the makeup companies who give home parties and have that be a special activity for the women in your bridal party.

Another day, you and your bridesmaids could go look at dresses and go out for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Get their input about designs or colors that they like or especially dislike. If they are paying for their own dresses, make sure they will not resent the expense and will be able to use the dresses for another occasion.

If the men want to have a bachelor party, just let your groom know how you feel about anything that might be offensive to you. If you have a bachelorette party, be considerate of his feelings also.

Just remember that this is going to be your wedding and you want to carry happy memories into your new life.
