The Great Day Of Your Life

Haven’t we all read about the prince and princess who got married and lived happily ever after? What is it about weddings that make the most cynical people all soft and mushy? Every girl dreams of her wedding day and in her mind visualizes the happiest day of her life, walking down the aisle clinging to her father’s arms, while her dream man waits expectantly.

There are many people who prefer a simple and quiet wedding where meeting of souls is more important than pomp and ceremony. Others may wish to invite every person listed in their telephone book. The flamboyant couple will have a ten day wedding and probably have a few thousands on their guest list. Each to his own, as the ceremony itself varies, depending on the country and religion. While a Christian may have a church wedding, a Hindu couple will take seven rounds around the sacred fire. An English wedding will be different from a Japanese wedding or Egyptian wedding. To the blissful couple, only love matters. Love bridges all differences. If their love can be deeper than oceans and taller than mountains, wedding venues also follow suit. Remote islands to jet planes and submarines, castles to casinos, all qualify to be exotic wedding venues. Las Vegas seems to score over the other destinations to emerge as the wedding hotspot.

If the weather is fair, one can arrange a beautiful wedding at a virgin beach, away from the crowd and the cacophony of the city, with only the lilting sound of waves and the occasional din when the waves hit the shores. This would be the idyllic setting for a never-will-forget wedding. A sunset wedding would also be romantic with a candle light setting for the reception to follow. Perhaps a tent, decorated with flowers, ribbons or hearts would add to the beauty of the beach.

It may be necessary to use the services of a wedding planner who helps the couple and their parents to organize the perfect wedding. A tactful planner will also cleverly iron out differences. The daughter may wish to carry carnations and her mother may insist on roses. The venue, theme if desired, clothes, flowers, everything can be well coordinated. Affluent parents go crazy planning red and gold or peaches and cream weddings. Often Egyptian settings or Indian royalty theme weddings are held and the flow of champagne and money is lavish. But the intimacy of the union, the magical moments must be the highpoint of the wedding. Nothing must hamper the ecstasy of the couple in love. Too much planning makes the flow of events too rigid. Allow the couple to do what they want on the most important day of their life. A good photographer must capture all the candid shots which may be memories for a lifetime. He must not only have the necessary equipment but also the skill to photograph the right people from the best angle with their most flattering smiles.

As the bride and groom vow to love and honor each other until death do them part and exchange their rings, there are few whose eyes don’t hold unshed tears. When the union is blessed by the priest and guests the oneness of the couple brings smiles to all.
In this age of multiple partners and live-in relationships, marriage is still the ultimate happiness sought by eager lovers who still believe in the sacrosanct and strong ties of marriage. The wedding day is the day when many a dream comes true.
