There are a lot of other ways you could use to make your wedding inexpensive; to start off with you could buy a secondhand dress. You could ask your family and friends to make your food and cake instead of giving you gifts. Have a barbecue instead of a multiple course meal; use an iPod or MP3 to pay music instead of engaging a DJ. Do not include foods like salmon, lobster, shrimp or beef tenderloin in the menu, this would help bring down your costs overhead. If you have a wedding at lunchtime you could serve lunch and avoid dinner. Avoid a formal dinner instead have a buffet.
Avoid serving alcohol at your wedding. In case serving alcohol is necessary then there are a lot of brands of wine and champagne that will not cost you a lot. You could always keep aside an expensive bottle of champagne for the bride and the groom.
Prioritize your needs and your wants, make a list of thing that are important and you would like to spend more and spend less on the elements that are not very important to you. If you want to save money for a house then do not spend too much on your wedding. Chose the life you want to live and do things that bring you happiness instead of spending too much and living up to other peoples expectations.
