Let’s see what’s in for the year 2008, wedding dresses with waist lines are back this year. People prefer wedding dresses that fit well rather than those that do not give any shape at all. Brides in the year 2008 are opting for dresses that are more graceful, full and soft – these dresses compliment the waist and bust lines. The necklines are considerably lower to reveal more of the shoulder and the neck. It all seems to be going towards healthier looking, more filled out brides and that is a very good sign. The whole idea of wedding gowns being designed for only the anorexic goes against the grain, what with weddings being a symbol of fertility and procreation!

The bold, bright and beautiful is appearing in the fabrics that are used to make wedding dresses. 2007 saw a lot of bling both in clothes and jewelry. Metallics, lace and satin are also very popular these days – bright colored and silver fabric is widely being used for designing bridal clothes. Wedding bouquets in 2008 too are seeing this brightness coming into play. Crystals are in and if added to the bouquet they will bring more shine, shimmer and class to them. There is no limitation to the kinds of crystals that you could use. These crystals are available in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. Of course, you can go from shiny glass to Swarovski – it all depends on you.

Reds, yellows, purples and oranges are the most common colors that will be seen in wedding bouquets. The year foretells a vibrant style. Green is the other color that is getting more popular these days at weddings. Green weddings refer to the environment and having the wedding outdoors. Many couples these days prefer green weddings. People are beginning to realize the impact on environment, making them eco friendly. The use of recycled items is increasing and use of disposables is becoming less. Having a reception outdoors using sunlight helps in the conservation of electricity. 2008 holds a lot of very exciting wedding trends that are very fascinating and fantastic.

For all of us, our wedding day is a very special one. We all want to have the nicest possible wedding and try to make it one of a kind. It must be a unique, wonderful, fun-filled event. The trend these days is to have weddings at unusual places. Celebrities are getting married in airplanes, submarines, Indian palaces and casinos. But everyone can’t afford such fanfare and over-the-top celebration. If you want to have an unusual wedding at down-to-earth cost, plan a beach wedding. With the warmth of the sun and hair flying in the wind, you will make a picture perfect couple.
The Pros:
• Weddings these days cost obnoxious sums of money. Hotels and reception halls charge not only for the food, but also rent, decoration, air conditioning, taxes, etc. On an average, a traditional wedding can cost $25,000 and that’s no mean sum. If you don’t want to reel from the burden of debt, a beach wedding is a good idea as it will be economical. Since it is a casual affair, even the guests can dress casually. It saves them the expense of formal clothing too.

• Usually beach weddings don’t require a permit and you can just block a certain area of the beach.

• A beach wedding can be very convenient if you have the wedding as well as reception at the beach. Everybody is saved the effort of running from one venue to another.

• A beach wedding can be a fun event. Even the kids and teenagers can have a ball. You could even turn it into a very romantic setting. In fact you can flex your creative muscles and plan it in any way you want.
The Cons:
• You can have a beach wedding only if the weather is fine. Inclement weather could play spoilsport. Since the entire event depends on the weather, you need to have an alternate venue .Breeze is welcome but too much of breeze can also be a bother. Pick a sheltered cove to avoid this problem. High tide timing should also be checked up. You can’t exchange vows in knee-deep water after all. You may have to keep sunscreen and insect repellant handy.

• Some beaches do require a permit and you will have to check with the authorities about this. You will also have to check about the music, until what time can you play loud music. If you want a barbeque or wish to light candles on the beach, you will have to ask the authorities first.

• Unless you want to hold a picnic for the gulls, remember to cover the food. It will also protect the food from sand if the day is windy.

• If you think it is necessary to lay out chairs, you will need to spread some kind of flooring or carpeting on the sand. If not, the chairs may keep sinking. You may need beach umbrellas too for shade.

With careful planning you can have a really cool and breezy beach wedding. Go ahead and tie the knot with sand between your toes and the gulls will celebrate with you.

Weddings are happy occasions. A great way to convey this happiness is to decorate the venue of the wedding with a spring theme. A few suggestive touches of green will have a great visual treat. Weddings signal new beginnings, and so does spring. With spring as a theme, you cannot go wrong with the atmosphere on this joyous occasion.

Pastels go well with anything connected with spring. So, when you shop for your wedding decoration and party, keep pastels in mind. If however, you prefer a darker shade for the bridesmaid dresses, you can use lighter shades of the same color for the flowers and centerpieces. This variation will give a sense of freshness and appear well coordinated and chic. If the wedding is being planned during Easter, you can almost exclusively use pastels, otherwise, too many will not be advisable. Colors could be from lavender, light blue, soft green or pinks and you could mix and match these shades for great effects.

Some other tricks to bring the spring theme to your wedding are potted bulbs – used as a centerpiece at the reception as well as on the tables meant for gifts and cakes, they make for very pleasing effects. Since you do not want to cause some allergies to anyone, choose bulbs with gentle scents. Heavy perfumes in a closed environment can have some guests hyperventilating and looking for fresh air. Tulips and daffodils, available in so many different colors, will be a good choice. Instead of using the same flowers everywhere, you can consider keeping different flowers in different locations to add some variety.

A nice thoughtful touch will be to give away flower or tree seeds in packets to guests. Spring is when most people will be planting their gardens and this will be much appreciated. Small trees too could be used not only to decorate as centerpieces, but also as favors. They should be about a foot high so that they do not come in the way at the ceremony. Plant them in decorative pots with some planting instructions, and keep them away on side tables so that they do not obstruct laying out of the food. After the wedding ceremony, announcements can be made that guests should feel free to take them away with them as mementos. A thank you note tied with a bit of raffia to the base will add a nice thoughtful touch.

A springtime feeling and atmosphere can be created using appropriate colors and flowers without going to too much expense or effort. You can even have an enjoyable experience planning and executing this!
